Engineers designing products with embedded wireless
communications have two choices. First, they can select
one of the many highly integrated RFICs that are available
and attempt to incorporate the wireless circuitry directly
into their design. The other choice is to select a low-cost,
high performance embedded wireless module.
Although the idea of designing a discrete radio using
a RFIC is tempting, it is less expensive and much faster
to use an embedded wireless module. In most cases, the
customer will get to market faster, have better and
more repeatable performance, and reduce their manufacturing
costs.
Faster time to market is a critical design decision
in today's fast moving market. By using an off-the-shelf
embedded wireless module like our Wi.232 series,
an engineer can cut 8-12 months off of the design cycle
by eliminating the laborious and difficult work of RF
design.
Today's market is also demanding top performance. In
many cases, the radios are replacing wires that have
been in use for a long time because they are reliable.
It is very difficult to design a robust protocol that
will give a wireless product reliability that is close
to wires. By using an off-the-shelf embedded wireless
module, the customer gets the benefit of using field
proven RF hardware and protocol software to ensure the
best performance possible.
But these benefits would be worth nothing if the production
cost were too high. Our embedded wireless modules are
designed to save our customers 8-15% in high volume
and as much as 50% in medium volume production.
The end result is simple. By choosing an embedded wireless
module from Radiotronix, a customer will get to
market faster with a more reliable wireless product
at a lower production cost.
