Description


The Wi.EUR™, (PN Wi.232EUR-R™), 868-870MHz embedded radio module is especially targeted for the European market. It combines a state-of-the art low power wireless transceiver with a powerful multipoint-to-multipoint protocol controller to form An easy transparent SERIAL UART wireless communication solution interfacing to any host microcontroller capable of replacing wires in any RS-232/422/485 application. It is footprint compatible with the 902-928MHz North American Wi.DTS™ module, allowing customers a great platform for applications in both the US and European markets. Additional features:

With a 120dB link budget and very low power operating modes, the Wi.EUR™ module is excellent for Remote Monitoring, security, automatic meter reading (AMR), cable replacement , Home Automation, and any other application requiring long range (customers have achieved over 1mile LOS), fast synchronization, and long battery life.

The Wi.EUR™ module is designed to be totally transparent. No special addressing or formatting of data is required. Data is validated using an internally generated CRC-16 and encoded using a proprietary algorithm. Multiple modules can operate on the same channel because of the built-in carrier-sense-multiple-access (CSMA) protocol.

The transceiver operates in two modes: narrow-band and wide-band. In both modes, transmitter output power is programmable from 0-15dBm. In NB mode the maximum data rate is 9.6 kbit/sec. There are 6 available channels in NB mode. In WB mode, the maximum data rate is 76.170 kbit/sec. There are 2 available channels in WB mode. The Wi.EUR™ also comes shipped with a unique 48 bit MAC address available to the user.

The Wi.EUR™ comes with a cost reduction development path to footprint compatible radio only transmitter (Wi.M868T-R™) or transceiver only (Wi.M868X-R™) embedded modules for designers who wish to develop their own communications protocol. Development kits are available to support this entire product family and antennas and other accessories.

In either mode, the Wi.EUR™ module is an excellent alternative to expensive and power-hungry frequency hopping modules. With 114dB link margin at the highest data rate, and 120dB link budget at the lowest data rate, the Wi.EUR™ will work farther and faster than any module in its class. Because the module does not require frequency hopping, synchronization is very fast, allowing long duty cycles and very good battery power performance .
