The Wi.FREESTAR™ (PN: Wi.FS24-100-MMCX™) is a powerful long range 802.15.4, 2.4GHz Zigbee-ready 100mW embedded radio module in a miniature footprint. It features the Freescale MC13192 Zigbee™ transceiver and the MC9S08GT60CFD Freescale microprocessor. The radio comes loaded with a highly efficient proprietary Star protocol but is easily upgradeable to the Freescale Bee-stack™ for Zigbee™ mesh type applications simply by downloading the stack to the MCU. The Wi.FREESTAR™ is ideally suited for point-to-point/multipoint networks or in Zigbee™ mesh applications.
The Wi.FREESTAR™ was designed to address the range issue with most +3dBm and below Zigbee type applications that struggle in real world environments. The TRUE 100mW PA allows users in North America to get the extra range allowed by regulations in this market. The module can also be set for 10mW to meet the reduced regulatory power output allowed in Europe and ROW applications. Key features of the Wi.FREESTAR:

The Wi.FREESTAR™ has two programmable output modes: 10mW and 100mW that allow this radio to meet worldwide regulatory requirements. The radio uses a true 100mW PA which is allows for long range line-of-site use up to 4000 feet plus with great reliability! The Wi.FREESTAR™ is FCC, IC and CE certified for fast and simple integration into an end application. The module comes with an inverted-F PCB antenna but is configured to use an external MMCX connector. The inverted F antenna version is available under PN Wi.FS24-100ST. A change in a resistor is needed to switch between external and internal antennas. The Wi.FREESTAR™ has a very small form factor, 1.4” x 1.0”.
The Wi.Freestar is recommended as a direct replacement for the CEL ZFSM-100-1 Zigbee-Ready module. The Wi.FREESTAR is the leading long range Zigbee module product on the market!
