The EWD-900-HDTC is a fully integrated half duplex wireless
FSK data transceiver that is suitable for the US (902-928
MHz) or UK(868MHz). The basic design of the transceiver
can be scaled from 300MHz to 1GHz, allowing operation in
countries around the world.
The transceiver can operate on 128 channels in the 902-928MHz
US unlicensed band, and 20 channels in the 868-870 MHz unlicensed
UK band.
The transceiver contains built-in data encoding and decoding,
simplifying the interface and software of the host microcontroller.
It can send and receive data using either Manchester encoding
or un-encoded from a UART. Data rates of 0.6 to 76.8 kbit/second
are supported.
A typical circuit will consist of a low-cost microcontroller,
a power source, and an antenna. The transceiver requires
no external RF components with the exception of a 50 ohm
antenna. The EWD-900-HDTC can transmit and receive data
over distances of 300-500 feet.
On-board EEPROM memory stores a unique 48-bit identification
number that can be used in networking applications for address
resolution. It also stores calibration information about
the module, eliminating the need for manual tuning adjustments.
Several features of this module are patent pending.
The patent-pending DIP style package is designed to support
manual and automatic assembly. The module's small size,
.70' x .70" x .20" , and low cost, make it ideal
for high volume applications.
